Which do you prefer ... The Museum of Modern Art or the Metropolitan museum of art?
I am visiting NYC in late March. One guy come along the journey is not really into art museums, so I told him that we would only go to one. The two museums' Web sites look great. But what is best in person?
They are very different. The Metropolitan Museum is more of a traditional museum with an Egyptian section, European section, Impressionist art, etc. It is truly one of the largest museums in the world. It would be very large and take days to fully see. The Museum of Modern Art is great, but compared to the Met a more modern / contemporary art. Big enough, but also possible to see much in one day. Basically, if you prefer traditional art, I recommend the Met, and whether you prefer modern art, I recommend the Museum of Art Modern also known as the MOMA.
