Frances Elkins - A Famous American interior decorator and designer

Frances Adler Elkins was one of those legendary designers of the early 20th century and was renowned for his inspired designs. Elkins was born in 1888 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and is the younger sister of the famous architect Chicago, David Adler (1882-1949). David Adler is an architect specializing in the movement of French architecture known as the Fine Arts, and the two Adler Elkins and worked together in Chicago and the Bay Area in the 1920s to the 1930s. Some of his works in the Bay Area includes interior design Yerba Buena Club Expo Golden Gate Fair 1939, at Treasure Island in San Francisco Bay. His creations include the dominant style of various locations in the evolution of events in history, and varies from country to French Chinoiserie in art deco.

Initially, She has been influenced by the works of Jean-Michel Frank, a French interior and furniture design, and Alberto Giacometti, a sculptor who has designed fixtures. She encouraged the designers through his California-based interior design firm established in 1918.

Elkin career began when she and her husband moved to Felton Monterey, California, where they bought the historic mansion Casa Amesti and transforms it into a masterpiece architecture with their different architectural styles and periodic transformations. She showed exceptional talent in interior design classic details like dentil cornice and fluted door casings be added to the plaster walls and ceiling boards in the residence. Elkins had specific design principles which it has tried first in the housing itself by organizing various English furniture, French and Chinese on the polished floors redwood. She had a special affection for the white, blue and yellow.

Creativity Elkin has been reinforced by his friends, who often impelled to decorate their homes. His masterpieces include the original flag of Cypress Point Club, which she designed in 1930. The same period has seen its reputation extended to San Francisco where she was the chosen designer for interior famous families of the city such as Haas and Zellerbach. The Zellerbach mansion on Broadway contains some original drawings of Elkin. It was one of the architects of the trio was elected by the society San Francisco. His works have influenced the design of interior designers such as Michael Taylor.
